Windows 10: BitDefender And Automatic Updates Question, Please

Hello,

Two questions please:

Using BitDefender.

Windows did an automatic update, apparently, and wiped out a lot of my desktop icons.
Although I am fairly sure that I still have BitDefender working, hopefully, the round desktop icon that was always displayed is not longer showing.
How do I get it back on the Desktop, please ?

And,
How can I prevent these Windows 10 "automatic" updates in the future ?
Shouldn't they ask if O.K. first !
And, give one an opportunity to see what the update is all about first ?

Hidden files keeps unchecking itself

BitDefender is probably protecting certain registry keys to guard the system against malware.
Turn off Bitdefender program/services, enable the Hidden files option and then enable BitDefender. Hopefully the setting should stick.

 

Unable to uninstall an app after creators update

I suggest that you change the title of your current question here to Unable to run or uninstall Bitdefender after Creators update to attract the attention of any Bitdefender users in this forum.

If you're talking about the security widget and not the shortcut, right click on bitdefender in the right corner on the taskbar and choose 'Show Security Widget'.

Windows 10 update system works like Microsoft wants, as soon as an update is released Windows will install it and restart if necessary. The restart part can be changed to request for a restart or restart when you're not using the system.
Microsoft has chosen for this for some reasons where a main reason is that many don't update their OS leaving their system vulnerable.
