    Bitdefender Install Borked It???

I've been getting BSOD's periodically ever since installing a trial version of Bit Defender last Sunday. Going back with a pre-install restore point did not help. Tried that again today, but the restore failed and all the restore point files were gone after reboot. I've also done a driver upgrade. I did a clean install of Win 8.1 from DVD a month ago, then upgraded that to Win 10 and installed my apps. Things were just fine until last weekend. Hoping someone here can help me out!

    :)

  2. windows 10 build 1703 problem with bitdefender

I didn't ask if you tried Bitdefender 2017, I asked if Bitdefender Support recommended upgrading to or installing

    Bitdefender Internet Security 2017
    .

Have you contacted Bitdefender Support about this yet or...?

Bitdefender 2017 is fully-compatible with Win10 Version 1703, OS Build 15063.332 but I'm fairly certain Bitdefender 2015 is not.

Something tells me you didn't upgrade to Bitdefender 2017 or do a clean install of Bitdefender 2017 in the past hour...

  3. Windows Defender in Creators Update

Have you tried to uninstall Bitdefender, and install it again?

Remember, when uninstalled Bitdefender, to restart your computer, even if it don't ask for a restart...

Also restart it after installing Bitdefender again.

If you have not done so, please try turning of Fast Startup:

    Bitdefender Install Borked It???

Again, thanks for the quick response! Unfortunately I have no restore points; the last time I tried to restore the restoration failed and the system removed them all. HDTune health reports some CRC errors and suggests checking the drive cable; I opened the laptop, reseated the cable at both ends. After restarting, the CRC count remains the same. The error scan came back 100% clean. The drive is a SanDisk 500 GB SSD I installed about 4 weeks ago.

The CRC isn't something to worry about, it is about communication errors that could be there from day 1 *Wink

Since there are no available restore points, is my best move to do a system restore, or what would you suggest? And thanks for the comforting news on the CRC's! *Biggrin

There is no system restore point but you ask if your best move is a system restore point?

I meant recovery, not restore ... in other words, reinstall Windows keeping my data in place.

    Bitdefender Install Borked It???

Is there a history or log of what DB3 installed?

No, there's not. And I just went to the reset this PC menu after booting from DVD, and the reset failed. Bad media, or ???

Was any reason given for the failure?

Follow below tutorial to reinstall Windows but keeping your files and programs, after it is finished I recommend to go to HP support page to install all drivers they provide. With laptops you only need the drivers the manufacturer provides.
