Windows 10: Bitlocker auto unlock 'Element not found'

I'm having an issue with BitLocker on my Windows 11 laptop. My D: drive is BitLocker encrypted, but when trying to enable the automatic unlock feature, an error 'Élément introuvable' Element not found pops up.I've tried a few things like restarting, using powershell cmdlets and disabling/enabling bitlocker, but no luck so far. Has anyone else dealt with this issue or have any suggestions? My C Drive's auto unlock works fine.Thanks in advance.

Auto unlock BitLocker in Windows 11 Home

Go to Start > Settings > System > Storage > Advanced storage settings > Disks and volumes. Click on the Properties button of a volume. Is there an auto-unlock option there?

(edit) Wait a minute. You are on Windows 11 Home edition. I do believe there are some limited Bitlocker options available on the Home edition but auto-unlock is not one of them. I would suggest upgrading to Pro if Bitlocker is important to you.

Windows Auto unlock ONLY works in case you have Bitlocker on your system drive, because if your system drive is not encrypted auto unlocking other drives means loss of security.
But in my case my system drive is Encrypted with hardware encryption that i password unlock during boot. So auto unlocking Bitlocker drives will do fine for me.

 

Enable Bitlocker auto-unlock without system drive encryption

1. turn off bitlocker on the drive you want to auto-unlock
   
2. mount this drive as a removable drive
   i.e plug it into a usb attached drive unit such as StarTech or many others
   
3. boot the system and bitlock the drive and turn on auto-unlock
   
4. shutdown the system
   
5. mount the drive as a permanent drive
   
6. reboot the system and the drive will auto-unlock because windows now thinks
   that it is a removable drive
   

Works For Me with no problems
