Windows 10: Bitlocker - encryption stuck, had to restart computer, can't access disk

I was encrypting a 2 TB hard drive for over 20 hours when the progress bar stopped. I waited for a few more hours and since nothing had changed, I tried to PAUSE it, but it didn't work. So I tried to restart the computer and I got stuck in the "restarting..." screen.I turned off the computer manually and whenever I try to access this disk it starts "encrypting" again and the computer gets slow or stuck. Can't access it with CMD with admin rights, can't access it in other computers all present the issue.I've also tried using - with no success - CMD - manage-bde –off <drive>.Can't chkdsk

Bitlocker Encryption of my external hard disk stuck at 36.6%. Data is accessible and no other issues but what is wrong with encryption?

I own a Lenovo Ideapad Laptop. Recently I had upgraded to Windows Pro and tried to encrypt my 1 TB External Hard Disk with Bitlocker. All went smoothly till the encryption reached 36.6%, after that it has been stuck. No Encryption is not paused/hanged, Data
is not corrupt easily accessible.

No other issues. I had tried decrypting and using chkdsk to find and repair any bad sectors but without any success. Windows chkdsk shows no bad sectors in the drive.

I suggest you to perform below mentioned steps to disable BitLocker.

To disable BitLocker I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Change View by from Category
  to Large Icons/Small Icons.
  
• 
  Click on BitLocker Drive Encryption and click on
  Turn BitLocker Off.
  
• 
  Follow on screen instructions. Click on Decrypt the Drive
  when the message appears.

Bitlocker encryption stuck at 97.8%

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern however I would suggest you to wait and see if it encrypts, if it doesn’t perform a check disk, terminate and encrypt again.

Run the check disk command for any errors on hard disk by following the steps below:

Warning: Microsoft does not recommend interrupting the CHKDSK process. Microsoft does not guarantee the integrity of the disk if the CHKDSK program is interrupted.
For safety you can back up your data before using the check disk command.

Use the check disk commands as follows:

• 
  Press Windows Key + X, then choose Command prompt (Admin) from the context menu.
  
• 
  Type in the command prompt CHKDSK /X (X is the drive which you want to perform check disk command on) and press
  ENTER to scan the disk.
  

NOTE: The root drive has to be C: and the command may schedule a task at the system startup, if it does, then press Y to schedule a task and restart the computer to perform chkdsk.

Once chkdsk completes, boot to the desktop and then check.

Important: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when chkdsk tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost.
