    I'm trying to put bitlocker on an external usb hard drive, as well as a USB drive. Neither will work

    I can go through the dialogue to to setup a password, get the recovery key, do the full disk encryption, and set it as a portable drive.

    The encryption then tries to start, but after a few seconds I get

    A problem occurred during bitlocker setup you may need to restart bitlocker setup to continue. Error code: 0x80072f9a

    Haven't found much online for that error code.

    I've rebooted.

    Bitlocker on win 10 works fine, so not sure where to go from here.

    For everyone searching for the answer why you get 0x80072f9a.

    Its possible that you dont have a strong authetication method like a pin or a fingerprint activated.

    I only made this post to give you guys my solution for this problem and I didn't find any solution for this anywhere.

    BSOD 0xc0000001 Bitlocker code not known


    I have a client that has a Microsoft Surface Pro. It has a BSOD error code 0xc0000001. I have tried many ways to repair but I am unable to since Bitlocker has locked the hard drive. The client swears they never activated it and does not know the code to unlock. They did not have a microsoft account so I cant go that route. Any suggestions to unlock hard drive without the bitlocker code?
