Windows 10: Bitlocker folder rescue recovery

Hello,I have a huge problem and really need help.I had a folder on my old Windows installation which is encrypted with bitlocker.Well, then I had to reinstall Windows because it wasn't booting up anymore.Now I have the problem that the folder is still encrypted but windows isnt't giving me the option to decrypt it.The thing is I have the recovery key and I know the password but I don't know how to decrypt it by windows.I have accomplished to decrypt the data with the tool DiskInternals EfsRecovery https://www.diskinternals.com/efs-recovery/ so that I can at least open it in read only mode bu

1. Are you not able login to your computer due to BitLocker Recovery Key?
2. Did you ever setup BitLocker Recovery Key on your computer?
3. Are you not able to login to your Microsoft Account to find the BitLocker Recovery Key?
4. Are you using Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Professional?

Meanwhile, try finding BitLocker Recovery Key if you have ever setup BitLocker Recovery Key for your computer.

Please follow the suggestions below and check if you are able to boot to your desktop.

• Places to look for your BitLocker key:
  • On a printout you saved. Look in places you keep important papers.
    
  • Saved on a USB flash drive. Plug the USB flash drive into your locked PC and follow the instructions. If you saved the key as a text file on the flash drive, use a different computer to read the text file.
  • In your Microsoft account. To get your recovery key, go to
    BitLocker Recovery Keys.

• Or ask someone for help:
  • Ask someone with administrator privileges on the same PC to unlock it with their key.
  • If your PC is connected to a domain (usually a work or school computer), ask a system administrator for your recovery key

Change in folder size after enabling Bitlocker

We understand you concern related to the size of the folder displayed. Try these steps to narrow down the issue:

1. Disable bitlocker
   and then check the folder size.
2. We would also suggest you to open the folder and select all files and see the size of the contents.

Let us know if the size of the contents matches the folder size. If you see a difference, then the folder might be showing incorrect size.
