Windows 10: BitLocker has locked a hard drive from an old PC by itself

A few other ago I managed to salvage an old hard drive from a PC Win 11 that was flood damaged. I plugged it into the new PC also 11 OS, and it worked fine for weeks. Today, when I booted the PC up, BitLocker has locked the drive without any reason.I didn't even know what BitLocker was until it locked me out of the drive. I fear that there may be no way to recover the drive, any advice would be hugely appreciated!

I suggest you to perform below mentioned steps to disable BitLocker.

To disable BitLocker I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Change View by from Category
  to Large Icons/Small Icons.
  
• 
  Click on BitLocker Drive Encryption and click on
  Turn BitLocker Off.
  
• 
  Follow on screen instructions. Click on Decrypt the Drive
  when the message appears.

i need help getting a recovery bitlocker code for my old hard drive from a computer that failed and locked the data. the Key ID: D817ffB8 the Dell pc serial number is 6SLPB63

someone gave me one yesterday and it did not work. the hard drive failed, and I opened the back of the laptop not knowing about the Bitlocker. I need to copy the files off the hard drive but can't until I get the correct Bitlocker code.

• We can try to enable BitLocker to encrypt your hard drive and then decrypt it later.
• BitLocker is what we recommend. You may use third-party software at your discretion.
