Windows 10: Bitlocker Key is lost, and there's this blue screen, and it won't let me log into my computer.

Hi, recently, my computer has gone into "bitlocker mode". I guess its to encrypt your drive or whatever. Well, it all happened after I downloaded an application that would update my PowerA xbox one controller. For some reason, after that download, my computer shut down and when I turned it on, there's this blue screen asking for my bitlocker key. So, I went to my microsoft account like it said where I could find it, and it wasn't there. I then looked for a usb flash drive, a piece of paper that might have the bitlocker key on it, to no avail. BitLocker normal light-blue screen but no unlock prompt. Still works!

I've enabled BitLocker (Win 10 Pro) on a Dell laptop Inspiron 5558 and all went well.

BUT.... When I power on the computer the familiar light blue BitLocker screen appears but there is no prompt to enter the key. Just a light blue screen, nothing else whatsoever. However, I can enter the BitLocker key (blind, of course) and then viola Windows boots up properly! So BitLocker is working.

I would normally suspect a display driver issue but the BitLocker code happens long before any device-specific display driver would load (right?). Anyone else seen this or have suggestion on what to do?

Please follow the suggestions below and check if you are able to boot to your desktop.

• Places to look for your BitLocker key:
  • On a printout you saved. Look in places you keep important papers.
    
  • Saved on a USB flash drive. Plug the USB flash drive into your locked PC and follow the instructions. If you saved the key as a text file on the flash drive, use a different computer to read the text file.
  • In your Microsoft account. To get your recovery key, go to
    BitLocker Recovery Keys.

• Or ask someone for help:
  • Ask someone with administrator privileges on the same PC to unlock it with their key.
  • If your PC is connected to a domain (usually a work or school computer), ask a system administrator for your recovery key
