Windows 10: Bitlocker key not available, but PC shows Win 10 Home

I've lost the password to my local account and had not created a password reset disk, so I'm attempting to use the utilman trick to get access to cmd prompt. I boot to a Win 10 USB drive but it says my drive is locked with Bitlocker. I don't have the recovery key written down so I log into my Microsoft.com account on another computer and see my device listed. It shows "Bitlocker ON" so I click "Manage recovery key", but that tells me there aren't any keys uploaded. How is that possible? Shouldn't there be a key if it reports that Bitlocker is on? Strangely, the same device page on microsoft.com shows "Windows 10 Home Version 1909". Huh? I thought Bitlocker is not possible with 10 Home. I honestly don't know if my PC is running Home or Pro.

PC prompting for Bitlocker recovery key, cannot find the recovery key

1. Since when are you facing this issue?
   
2. Are you aware of any changes being made to the PC?
   
3. Which version of Windows is installed on the PC?
   
4. What is the make and model of the PC?
   

This issue can be caused if a BIOS/firmware update has been pushed to your PC either through Windows Updates or any other OEM media update.



If you have set up the Bitlocker on your PC, I suggest you to look for the recovery key on your Microsoft account. Also, you can refer the article

windows 10 key

Thanks but I don't want to do any decrypting. I want to download a Win 10 ISO from Microsoft and install it using my Win 8 key. No other steps required. Is that possible?
