Windows 10: BitLocker - never set up a key: How to unlock hard drive?

Suddenly Win10 asks for a BitLocker key to access hard drive to start up the system Lenovo Yoga. I never set up a BitLocker key, so there is none.This occurred immediately after I reset Windows 10 on a different, older Laptop and registered it to my microsoft account.Did I unintentionally lock my new laptop by doing this? Is there a way to unlock BitLocker on the new laptop or is a system sweep with loss of all data on the hard drive the only option?

Windows Auto unlock ONLY works in case you have Bitlocker on your system drive, because if your system drive is not encrypted auto unlocking other drives means loss of security.
But in my case my system drive is Encrypted with hardware encryption that i password unlock during boot. So auto unlocking Bitlocker drives will do fine for me.

 

BitLocker key cannot unlock the disk. Neither can i reinstall cause the drive is blocked

Unlock an eternal drive bitlocker

This is a Seagate external expansion hard drive (1 Terrabyte). I never had any issues with the drive until yesterday when I disconnected and reconnected it. At that point the Locked symbol showed up. I am told that I need to provide a password or recovery
key to unlock the bitlocker. I did not put the bitlocker into effect. Therefore I do not have a password or recovery key code to unlock it. This is a Microsoft software caused issue.

I spoke to a tech person from Seagate who told me this is an unsecured external drive with no encryption and that I needed to speak with Microsoft about unlocking the drive.

I did shut down the computer as you suggested and the drive still has a locked symbol.

I appreciate your help on this. If I cannot get the drive unlocked I will have to speak to a Microsoft tech person for $50 about a problem that Microsoft caused. Not good...

Do you have any other suggestions?
