Windows 10: BitLocker Password Problem

This is my first time at using BitLocker. I am encrypting a flash drive that has stuff that I don't want accidentally deleted. My dog's microchip number, the Mfg and access numbers for a device in my back $250,000 piece of junk!. Stuff like that.

The problem is, I created a password, entered it at I think the appropriate time, I re-entered it and it all checked out OK. I printed a copy of the Recovery Key, plus saved it to a file on the drive that I keep all my music mixdowns.

So, I clicked on the little Icon in the lower right to remove the flash drive, removed the drive, plugged it back in and clicked on the flash drive to open it. I was asked for the password, so I entered it from the exact piece of paper I originally created it on. It told me it was incorrect. I double and triple-checked it and it was entered exactly as I created it. No errors in input. I tried it twice more. Still said incorrect.

So, I created another password, and as you know, I had to enter it twice and it went through OK. I attempted to open the drive again, entered the second password I created, and again it said Incorrect Password.


What the heck am I doing wrong?????? I am entering the passwords just exactly as I had originally created them, I click on the eye to show the password and it was exactly correct, but still it said it was incorrect. BTW, it opens just fine when I enter the Recovery Key, and that's OK, but a hassle. Even though my password is long and complex, it follows events in my life that I can easily remember but no one else could never even guess it.

Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'm not too good on this password and encryption stuff.

Please follow these steps and check if that helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to start the BitLocker Device Encryption service.

Follow the below steps:

1. Press Windows key + R from the Keyboard.

2. Type services.msc and hit Enter.

3. Search for BitLocker Device Encryption service.

4. Double click on BitLocker Device Encryption service and click on Start button.

5. Click on the dropdown list and set the Startup type to Automatic.

If the issue persists then change the password and change the settings on how drive is unlocked at startup.

bitlocker password?

I have the Recovery Key but that is not the problem. I have no bitlocker password - not lost or forgotten; it was never created. Sounds like you're suggesting I turn off bitlocker and just turn on again.

We suggest to change it from Control Panel. You may follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X.
• Select Control Panel.
• Click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
• Click Unlock drive.
• Type your present password and click Unlock.
• The drive will be unlocked and you will notice more links on the right of that particular unlocked drive, click
  Change password.
• Now, you may type your Old password, New password and Confirm new password.
• Click Change password.
