    problem with bitlocker

    Hi Roeslie,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We need some more details to help you find the solution to your problem.

    • Which edition of Windows 10 is installed on your surface machine?
    • Did you notice any changes on the computer recently?
    • When you say, you have a problem with your Surface machine about BitLocker key, do you mean that the surface machine asks you to enter the BitLocker key to allow you to sign into Windows?
    • Does the other computer ask you to enter the BitLocker key to allow you to access the files saved on it?

If you are being asked to enter a BitLocker key to sign into your surface machine and you don’t remember your BitLocker key, you can follow the instructions given in the link below to find the BitLocker recovery key.

Bitlocker fails with second installation of Win10 Pro

I am attempting to set up a separate partition on my SSD for software development. I have Windows 10 Pro and wish to have Bitlocker enabled for all drives. Bitlocker operates properly on my first installation. I successfully installed the second installation
of Windows 10 Pro on the second partition, but when I attempt to activate Bitlocker on this partition, I am prompted to restart the computer and told to enter the 48 digit recovery key after restart into the second partition, with a message saying that the
TPM could not be accessed. After 3 attempts to start to the second partition, an attempt to repair Windows on the new partition is attempted. Again, I am prompted for the recovery key, and it is not accepted. The first instance of the operating system functions
    without a problem.

This is my second attempt to install a second installation of Windows 10 on this computer with Bitlocker enabled. Computer is a Cyberpower Tracer III with 16 GB RAM and a Core i7-9750H CPU.

    Bitlocker Problem in second partition

    W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

    - press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
    - diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
    - list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
    - select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
    - clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
    - create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
    - exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
    - click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that
