Windows 10: Bitlocker Recovery

Good Evening Microsoft Team,


Hope you well, Please assist, I have external Hard Drive Transcend made 1TB which i have been using for more then six years, yesterday when i connected the External Drive to my laptop to work on, its required a 48 digit recovery ID, which i do not have in my position, what strange is that i didn't encrypt the external drive, i once encrypted the external drive and forgot the pin and didn't have recovery key and i formatted the External drive. I have so much work files and personal files on the external hard drive, can not afford to loose the information again. please assist if possible, my issue is that i bought the external drive like six years ago and no longer in position with the slip or the box where maybe I can find the recovery key, When i consulted with Transcend, they referred me to Microsoft support team as the Bit locker is manage by Microsoft.


The external hard drive made is Transcend and 1TB size, serial number: B56640 0911 StoreJet. the Recovery Key ID: 1B5A011B.

1. Are you not able login to your computer due to BitLocker Recovery Key?
2. Did you ever setup BitLocker Recovery Key on your computer?
3. Are you not able to login to your Microsoft Account to find the BitLocker Recovery Key?
4. Are you using Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Professional?

Meanwhile, try finding BitLocker Recovery Key if you have ever setup BitLocker Recovery Key for your computer.

Please follow the suggestions below and check if you are able to boot to your desktop.

• Places to look for your BitLocker key:
  • On a printout you saved. Look in places you keep important papers.
    
  • Saved on a USB flash drive. Plug the USB flash drive into your locked PC and follow the instructions. If you saved the key as a text file on the flash drive, use a different computer to read the text file.
  • In your Microsoft account. To get your recovery key, go to
    BitLocker Recovery Keys.

• Or ask someone for help:
  • Ask someone with administrator privileges on the same PC to unlock it with their key.
  • If your PC is connected to a domain (usually a work or school computer), ask a system administrator for your recovery key
