    Bitlocker Removable Drive : Change Wizard default selected behavior


    We have enabled Removable Drive encryption for my company. The users will get prompted to either encrypt the removable USB drive for read/write or don't encrypt for read only. By default "encrypt" is selected and many times without reading the wizard (of course) the users hit he enter key. Encrypting various items like SD Cards for cameras and click-Share USB devices, etc,etc.


    Can I change the default selected option in the wizard to be Don't encrypt...?

    Fixed Drive Detected as Removable in Bitlocker

    My system has 2 data drives in addition to the boot drive which is SSD. While windows detects both drives as fixed drives Bitlocker reports one of the drives as removable and so I cannot set it to auto-unlock. Any suggestions on how to change this behavior
    and make Bitlocker report correctly?

    I suggest you to perform below mentioned steps to disable BitLocker.

    To disable BitLocker I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.


    • Press Windows key + X and click on
      Control Panel.

    • Change View by from Category
      to Large Icons/Small Icons.

    • Click on BitLocker Drive Encryption and click on
      Turn BitLocker Off.

    • Follow on screen instructions. Click on Decrypt the Drive
      when the message appears.

    changing bitlocker password, Windows 10

    Hello Keith,

    We suggest to change it from Control Panel. You may follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + X.
    • Select Control Panel.
    • Click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
    • Click Unlock drive.
    • Type your present password and click Unlock.
    • The drive will be unlocked and you will notice more links on the right of that particular unlocked drive, click
      Change password.
    • Now, you may type your Old password, New password and Confirm new password.
    • Click Change password.
