    Bitlocker security key, but the security code details need to be updated.


    I have reset my contact number as i have shifted countries, now randomly my surface won't boot up and wants the bitlocker security key, but when i try to go to the link and log on, it is telling me i cannot access this for another 25 days as the security code details need to be updated. How can i access my surface without re-installing and wiping the device?

    BitLocker Security concerns

    They should both be as secure as the USB stick you keep them on. The BEK (startup key) file is encrypted (so you can't see the contents) and also works straight away and the TXT (recovery key) file is easily readable but requires extra steps when needing to recover a bitlocked drive. But having said I would keep both of them.

    So that's (4) down and 40 Billion more security updates to go before any Microsucks O/S will be even remotely secure. I'd suggest Bill get off his arse and get the first Billion security fixes out this year.
