Windows 10: Bitlocker troubleshooting

My daughter updated her laptop yesterday Win10, HP Envy . When restarting the PC gives a promt for bitlocker password/key is required. To our knowledge Bitlocker had not been turned on, but none the less it is on. The computer is registered to her MS account - she is the only user of the PC and it is primarily used for school purposes. Looking for the 48-digit key we have logged into her MS account, fount the laptop, but MS states that there is not registered any bitlocker security to the unit, and hence, it does not have any 48 digit keys to unlock the PC.What could be the cause for this,

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

Need to turn off Bitlocker to install Windows 10

Hi,

We suggest doing the following steps again to resolve the issue. To complete the procedure, make sure that you have the following information:

• You must be able to provide administrative credentials.
• The drive must be BitLocker-protected.

To suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption on an operating system drive, please follow the steps below:

• Click Start, click Control Panel, click
  System and Security, and then click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
• Click Suspend Protection for the operating system drive.
• A message is displayed, informing you that your data will not be protected while BitLocker is suspended and asking if you want to suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption.
  
• Click Yes to continue and suspend BitLocker on the drive.
