    Bitlocker - Win 10 - TPM 2.0 - Legacy Mode

Hi all, we are planing the rollout of Windows 10 in our company via SCCM. This will be done to new notebooks from Dell which have TPM 2.0 onboard and we want to use Bitlocker on them. Unfortunately Bitlocker could not be actived on them. On my researches I found out, that we have to install the notebooks in UEFI Mode. But this is not possible at the moment. So my question is: Does anybody know or have a clue if or how it is possible to use Bitlocker with Windows 10, TPM 2.0 and Legacy Mode? Thanks and best regards, Sebastian

    :)

    BitLocker On TPM ver 2.0

    Hey all.

I hope that i'm asking this at the right area of this Forum.

I have a DELL Latitude 5480 with Win10 pro on it.

After enabling BitLocker, BitLocker asking for a recovery key on every reboot.

I've found that BitLocker cannot work properly with TPM ver 2.0, (Dell Latitude 5480 comes with TPM version 2.0).

After downgrading TPM, from ver 2.0 to ver 1.2, BitLocker works smoothly.

Any solution for BitLocker on TPM ver2.0?

    Thank in advance.

Surface Pro 3 from Win 8.1 Pro to Win 10 Pro: Bitlocker fails to turn on in Win 10

Thank you VR-Jack for sharing your experience. Unfortunately I cannot follow and report on results since my Surface is now away, returning end of September.

Your suggestion in your last paragraph doesn't seem to work, it's what I did before upgrading: I had Bitlocker on, and I turned it off before running Win 10 Setup.

My goal would be to upgrade to Win 10, make sure is activated, then do a system reset (or a custom reinstall) in order to obtain a Win 10 image as clean as possible and save this image with File History. Then turn Bitlocker on, with no traces of the previous
    OS.

While trying to find answers I stumbled upon this page in MSDN:

    Link:

TPM 2.0 Hardware Interface Table (TPM2) - Windows 10 hardware dev

    Title:

TPM 2.0 Hardware Interface Table (TPM2) - Windows 10 hardware dev

    Content:

"TPM 2.0 Hardware Interface Table (TPM2)

The Trustworthy Computing Group formalized the TPM 2.0 Hardware Interface Table in TCG ACPI Specification for Family 1.2 and 2.0, Revision 0.37. This is available on the

    Trustworthy Computing Group
    website.

The Microsoft TPM 2.0 Hardware Interface Table specification is obsolete. "

The link provided brings up a TCG document dated December 19, 2014. I bought my Surface Pro 3 sometime mid-2014.

    More questions then:

    - Does it have anything to do with the issue described in my original post?

    - If so, is it fixable by firmware/software updates?

    - If so, has it been fixed by this date? Should I try again to upgrade to Windows 10 without worries about Bitlocker refusing to save the encryption key?

    Bitlocker - Win 10 - TPM 2.0 - Legacy Mode

Unfortunately I don't have an answer here, but I am curious as to why it's not possible to install Windows 10 under UEFI on those "new notebooks from Dell"? Especially if they come equipped with TPM 2.0 modules. Doesn't make sense to me.

    What am I missing?

According to here you need to boot in UEFI to configure bitlocker then you can change to CSM.
