Windows 10: bitlocker

Today I received my new HP laptop with W10 x64 latest version. I fired it up and ran all lots of updates and all was well UNTIL i tried to load my applications. It didn't take kindly to this and went into an encryption lockdown. I got this lockdown twice. I found the recovery keys 2 at aka.ms/myrecoverykey and tried to enter the later one to get it going to this. It didn't like this I guess I should have entered the first one and then the second but I've not been here before so did not know or maybe there is another issue = typing error, who knows as it is not talking to me. I now have a quite complete lockout with net access being withheld luckily i have a desk top machine to write this, other applications cannot run and I cannot find a way back to the lockout page to try to re-enter the keys.

question 1 how do i get the recovery page to enter the keys? I assume I have to.

question 2 what did i do to upset the machine and

question 3 will it happen again?

if so how can i prevent it happening again?


I cannot believe that I'm the only person to get into this bind and there may well be a script somewhere to help me out of this hole.


Can somebody please advise.

Need to turn off Bitlocker to install Windows 10

Hi,

We suggest doing the following steps again to resolve the issue. To complete the procedure, make sure that you have the following information:

• You must be able to provide administrative credentials.
• The drive must be BitLocker-protected.

To suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption on an operating system drive, please follow the steps below:

• Click Start, click Control Panel, click
  System and Security, and then click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
• Click Suspend Protection for the operating system drive.
• A message is displayed, informing you that your data will not be protected while BitLocker is suspended and asking if you want to suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption.
  
• Click Yes to continue and suspend BitLocker on the drive.

I suggest you to perform below mentioned steps to disable BitLocker.

To disable BitLocker I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Change View by from Category
  to Large Icons/Small Icons.
  
• 
  Click on BitLocker Drive Encryption and click on
  Turn BitLocker Off.
  
• 
  Follow on screen instructions. Click on Decrypt the Drive
  when the message appears.
