Windows 10: Black background, no task bar, no icons but with cursor and open apps.

Explorer is running but not visible. Cmd, task manager and run work, can open apps through there but fonts are way larger than normal. Can't open settings. Tried restarting explorer, safe mode start, reinstalling settings, reinstall graphics driver, DISM and SFC.

Opening an app from an icon pinned to the task bar gives strange result

Thanks for the quick response. None of the suggestions worked although I did not download a fresh version. I did find a solution by dragging the icon from its location to the task bar. Strange that pinning introduces unwanted steps while dragging the icon gives a clean opening.

 

Win10, Icon in task bar black square

I have a shortcut on my desktop that opens a specific web page. I have created an icon for it, and the icon shows on the desktop. To get quicker access to it, I have pinned the shortcut to the task bar. That worked fine for a while. Then suddenly the icon
turned to a black square in the task bar, still showing the correct icon on the desktop. I followed some advice that told me to stop explorer, delete the icon database, and start explorer again. That, in fact, did restore the icon on the task bar, but after
a reboot of the computer it was back to a black square.

All other icons show up fine on the task bar.

Does anybody have any ideas about this?
