Windows 10: Black Background while playing games

Hi, so ever since I got my new pc, I have been playing a few games here and there. These games were downloaded from the microsoft store and the majority have a black background. I know this should not be like this since I am playing a game I have before on my old pc and it did not have a black background. To be more specific, I am not experiencing a black screen nor am I crashing but instead I am simply playing the game normally just without a background. I do not know what can be causing this and it is really quite annoying. If this can be fixed, please let me know.

• From where are you trying to play the video games (downloaded/ from website)?
• If you are playing games from website which browser are you using?
• Were you able to see any error code/ error message when the game crashes?
• Are you able log-in to your computer?

This issue might have occurred due to corrupted/ outdated display drivers.

As you see black screen while logging to the desktop, I suggest you to refer to the below Microsoft article about this issue, try the troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Also, I suggest you to install all the pending updates on your device.

Steps:

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type
  updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on
  Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.

Desktop background gone black after a few minutes of use on laptop.

Desktop background and taskbar going black could be due to software conflicts.

We would like to know some information to better assist you with your concern:

• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
• Did you get any error messages or error codes?

In the meantime, we suggest that you try to check if the "Show Windows Background" option is turned on. Follow the steps below:

• Open Settings in the Start menu.
• Go to Ease of Access, then on the left side, click
  Other options.
• Turn on Show Windows Background and check if it works.

Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions:

• Does the issue persist only when playing games?
• Do you face similar issues when you play videos using a video player?

Method 1: I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Type Troubleshooting in the search box next to
  Start button and select the top most search result.
• Click on View all from left side panel of the screen.
• Select Hardware and Devices, click on
  Advanced option and check Apply repairs automatically
  option.
• Follow the on screen instructions.

Method 2: If the issue persist, I suggest you to uninstall the graphics card driver from
device manager manually by following the steps from the link below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Press Windows key + X and click on Device Manager.
• Expand Display adapter option.
• Right click on the graphics card driver and select Uninstall option.
• Restart the computer to reinstall the driver automatically and check if the changes is effective.
