Windows 10: Black screen after inserting a brand new HDD

So I bought a new HDD because I wanted to replace my old one, when I inserted it and booted up my laptop it didn't show anything, only a black screen. The hard drive icon also wasn't lit. Please helpOld Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 installed on the old drive

How can I do the steps listed above, there is nothing but a black screen, nothing to click on. When I restart the computer, there is no problem. But sooner or later I get the black screen. I mean my Mom just bought a brand new computer, and it also does
it to her. Could the screensaver be causing the problem? It is a screensaver that comes with Windows 10.

So just to be clear, my next steps should be:
Power off and disconnect HDD.
Insert my Windows 10 flash drive and boot from the UEFI install option from BIOS onto SSD.
Delete old partitions off of SSD- Will it give me this option during the Windows Install? I started the process, but canceled on the product key screen when I started seeing more replies to the thread.

Once Win 10 is installed and running, shutdown and attach the 4T HDD.
Boot from the SSD, open Disk Manager (C:\Windows\System32\diskmgmt.msc) and delete all partitions on the 4T HDD drive and then reinitialize it. It will convert to GPT and format as NTFS. -Do you guys have there a step by step process for this? I just want to make sure I dont screw anything else up

With nothing but a blank black screen and unable to type anything, I feel that I can't fix it.
