Windows 10: Black screen after Installation (Error Code 8007002C-4000D)

Yeah, I just did that a moment ago and now it's downloading fine. Phew, I'll tell you how it does soon enough. Thanks *Biggrin

 

Okay, so I've downloaded and installed it again, and it just did the same thing as the first time. It cut off at exactly the same percent and it's just black screen with no cursor or interface what so ever. Most I could possibly do is a hard restart, or wait the hour till it reverts back to Windows 7 :/

 

Interesting, what are your results when you run the upgrade advisor?

 

I don't know. It's still on a black screen. Shall I do a hard reset?

Well I didn't see your reply till a moment ago, and it's already reverted back to Windows 7

Okay, I'm currently typing this on my newly installed Windows 10 Pro. I managed to find a windows page which helped me out.

Basically I uninstalled my Anti-virus (Avast) and did a clean boot of my system. I downloaded it through the media creation tool on Microsoft's website. Everything went smoothly, and I'm just about to reactive and redownload my anti-virus.

Just follow the instructions there, and hopefully it should work again.

EDIT: it's about half way down the page, and its actually under the heading: "0xC1900101-0x4000D - The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation"

Just Control+F for the error code you have, and the right set of instructions should appear

 

Hi any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated and I think you will find this very interesting indeed.
I applied every conceivable supposed solution to this error after several attempts to upgrade Windows 7 home with Windows 10 home. I have attached my update log its bulky but with "find" facility you will discover all the successes and would really appreciate any assistance whatsoever.

Just before I initiated latest attempt I upgraded my Windows 7 Home to Professional with Windows update anytime. I entered an OEM cd-key it advised that the upgrade to Win7 professional failed. A curious thing happened even though the upgrade to Windows 7 Pro advised it had failed, my system screen after the Windows 10 upgrade failed reverted back to Windows 7 and to my surprise the op system was now Windows 7 pro (non activated)

Obviously the Windows 10 upgrade failed because my op system was not activated and the downloaded files would have been for Windows 10 Home if I had realised that I would not have attempted another upgrade. Confused I was totally bamboozled. I successfully activated Windows 7 pro (now my op system)

On the strength of that I ended the task controlling the upgrade icon GWX.exe removed all files in the downloads folder successfully, in Software Distribution. I then opened cmd as admin entered wuauclt.exe /updatenow opened Windows upgrade left it to upgrade to Windows 10 and upgrade screen advised that Windows 10 Pro was in progress. I left it alone and came back to see the ubiquitous Windows 7 Splash screen again with the same error.
