    Black screen and entire computer crashes upon launching Batman Arkham Asylum


    I'm trying to play Batman Arkham Asylum on Steam but when after I press play on the launcher, I get half a second of sound, and a black screen with my mouse cursor in the middle and my entire computer freezes and I have to reset it. I have updated:GPU driversPhysXDirectX.NET Framework 3.5, 4.8Visual StudioDoes anyone know what could be happening or have any ideas?

    Hi, yesterday a friend bought me Batman: Arkham Asylum on Steam. So when I launched it, it did the usual update/check of my drivers. Then it crashed and gave me an error message: "Continue" or "Close." It also said that if i pressed "Continue" the game might
    not function properly, and if I pressed "Close," it would shut down the game. I pressed Continue, and the game menu popped up, except without any letters on the buttons. I guessed where the "Play" button was and clicked, the game then crashed and gave a final
    error message. I went onto the Steam forums, and I wasn't the only one who had this problem. Someone in the comments said that one had to install the last DirectX version or install physxloader.dll into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman
    Arkham Asylum GOTY\Binaries.

    I tried to find how to install directx but i can't find any official website that just has a FLIPPING download button! Please Help!

    PS. I am reinstalling the game now, and i will update if I forgot anything significant.

    Batman: Arkham Asylum DVD, Windows 10, Game Not Starting.

    Hi CannonJ

    It may be an issue with the file launching correctly, in this case I would suggest trying to set the file to run in a different compatibility setting.

    To do this please find the bmlauncher.exe file

    (C:\Program Files (x86)\Eidos\Batman Arkham Asylum\Binaries) >Right click>Compatibility>check 'run in compatibility mode for' Windows XP SP3

    Once you have done this, please try to run it again to see if this has fixed the error.
