Windows 10: Black Screen but desktop is not available Windows 11

    Black Screen but desktop is not available Windows 11


    Screen remains BLACK when I boot & login to my computer account. I can see the mouse pointer on a black screen. Pressing CTRL-ALT-Del, brings up task manager. Tried connecting to another monitor with an HDMI cable & black screen with mouse pointer appears so I don't think that it is display related.HP Pavilion laptop. Went to sleep on battery, I closed the lid and plugged it in. Couldn't get to the desktop back on.

    • Were you able to get to the desktop screen after you restarted the system?
    • When the screen was blank, were you able to see the cursor on the screen?
    • Did you get any error code or error message?

    Could you please answer few questions:


    • When you say “Now, nothing is on my desktop” what exactly are you referring to?

    • Are you getting black screen after Sign in?
