Windows 10: Black Screen during install of 20H2 update

It asked me to restart so the install can start. Everything was going well until it hit 26% when it restarted. Nothing alarming as I know this happens a lot during an update. The problem is that it is now stuck at a black screen. I tried to wait and went to sleep. 5 hours and its still at the black screen.


I researched what I can do of course. I tried the ctrl alt del thing. I tried the windows shift ctrl b combo. I tried the windows p arrow up up enter. Nothing worked.


Desperate, I force closed it by long pressing my power button, and then rebooted it again. The manufacturer logo appeared and then it displayed Attempting to recover installation... and then back to the black screen. Do I wait again or is this a sign that something truly is wrong with the install.


I have no idea what to do now. The update has been going for 3 days now between downloading and preparing the install. I've lost precious time and am working on my tablet.

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

• Were you able to get to the desktop screen after you restarted the system?
  
• When the screen was blank, were you able to see the cursor on the screen?
  
• Did you get any error code or error message?
