Windows 10: Black Screen HDR After Adjusting Volume 1803, 1903, 1909, 19013

I've tested past, current versions of Windows and scoured various forums for a fix. This is happening to many many people yet still not fixed... The Windows 10 Volume OSD turns HDR off or appears to have some sort of affect whilst adjusting the volume. When the Windows volume overlay appears on screen while HDR is enabled in fullscreen apps or games, the monitor goes dark. Once the overlay is off screen it turns back on. This is very annoying as I would like to use HDR without my screen turning off in the middle of competitive gaming. Also for what ever reason Nvidia Shadow play or recording doesnt work while HDR is enabled in Windows. Can someone make note of this and please fix it... I know this has been reported before but even on the insider additions of Windows the issues still resides..

1909 Release date

Hi Moatassem

While there is no official release date, it is expected that version 1909, will be released approx. on Patch Tuesday in October (2nd Tuesday of October)

If you are already running, that will be downloaded automatically as a cumulative update to version 1903, rather than as a full Feature Update . . .

Otherwise, the release of 1909 will be similar to the 1903 release, it will be a stepped release to compatible devices first . . .etc.

 

Windows 10 HDR problems in full screen.

1. Its all the games I own that don't support HDR10. Basically when I full screen on a non-HDR game, the screen goes black for a few seconds and HDR gets disabled and all the colors looked washed out (Like its in SDR)

2. Yes SDR looks washed out. I want to play my games in full screen and in HDR. Playing in windowed mode is a nightmare

3. I know because the monitor goes black for a few seconds and all the colors look washed out (As shown in the screenshots)

Sadly the fixes did not work

I updated the GPU drivers via GeForce Experience app.

My Monitor does support 4k HDR10

I tried lower the resolution and the refresh rate but that did not work.

0:00 HDR mode is on everything looks fine (In the video, when it looks high contrast, that means HDR is on)

0:35 I full screen the game. If you notice the high contrast is no longer there, the colors are washed out

0:46 I disable full screen and HDR mode is back on

*HDR looks high contrast, Ignore that, that's just the video itself.

Im also using windows 10 64bit 1809
