  1. Black Screen / monitor gets no signal when reaching login screen

Hi, My desktop, running win10 (not sure what version), black screened today. Ctrl alt del and win/ctrl/shift/b both didn’t work so I power-button-rebooted.

Now, when I try to boot it back up it (at best), reaches the login screen for a second, before it loses connection with the monitor.

Sometimes this happens during the windows loading as well, and rarely even before that.

Caps lock/keyboard is working, but trying to log in ”blindly” seems to have no effect. Turning on mouse keys to prompt the menu ”Do you want to turn mousekeys on” seems to delay the loss of connection slightly, and one time it resulted in a graphical glitch.

I’ve also tried booting into safe mode but to no avail, it just boots regularly. This might be user error though as I haven’t had any windows logo during startup ever since I updated to win 10 - so the timing of the triple reboot is complete guesswork for me.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Edit:

I got to log in now, but it happened again before the login completed. I’m obviously an idiot for not reaching for a safe mode reboot when I had the chance. But figured it might be useful info regardless.

    Fix for black screen/no signal

Easy Fix for Black Screen/No Signal after Dedicated GPU Driver Install, OS Windows 10

The problem (at least in my case) was the Windows 10 default settings for my monitor/TV were way too high; above 3000 X 3000 and a scaling setting of 300% this
did work with the Basic Driver

Step 1: You need to reboot into your on board GPU or into safe mode

Step 2: Go to the search panel and type in Display Settings (Bottom left of screen) you will be given a list click on the top item which is Display Setting and it will take you where you can alter the setting

Step 3: Change to what better suits your monitor e.g. 1862 X 1048 or may be even lower at 100% (HD TV) You may need to uninstall the Dedicated GPU driver and reinstall it.

    Hope this is of help

  4. Black Screen / monitor gets no signal when reaching login screen

After login and see black screen on the monitor

Earlier this evening I was surprised to see that happen after I decided to restart my desktop. No problem to login with my password but after this show black screen on the monitor. On Tuesday night I installed the latest Windows 10 1703 with no problem at all and run well too. But last night I was surprised to see that I got the error code after trying to open NotePad but the message show me on the screen below:

    notepad.exe - Application Error

( X ) The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005).
Click OK to close the application.

Also I can't open other programs like my train simulation games, my email and Microsoft Edge too. So I decided to restart the desktop because of the errors above but end up with black screen after login on my desktop.

So I am asking anyone what should I do with this? Go ahead to system restore or be able to fix this with the error code above? If you think that I should go ahead to system restore and can you explain what steps to do to restore the system. Look forward to see the help of this problem.

One more thing I just updated my computer specifications so you will see what computer I have?
