Windows 10: Black Screen of Death at Startup

I went to login to my PC An inspiron 5482 and before I could enter the password, a message popped up that said:"Hold on a moment! You need to input a number from your authenticator app."This seemed incredibly bad already, but I did as instructed, went to my app and confirmed the number showing on the screen. After that, the screen went blank and I nearly had a meltdown myself as this has come on the heels of a very frustrating technology week.The only thing I knew to do was press and hold the power button. It restarted normally after that, but when I see something like that I know I am in fo

Windows 7 black screen of death

I read a report a little while ago that said the black screens were nothing to do with updates but due to a malicious program (it hit more than just windows 7 users - vista, xp and 2000 were also prone to the black startup screen of death if infected). My windows 7 install is fully up-to-date and i've never had the black startup screen.

Just run some decent anti virus and you should be safe (i suggest microsoft security essentails since it's free and pretty decent). When you've installed an anti-virus i'd suggest doing a full scen to be sure there's nothing there.
