Windows 10: Black screen on startup

Here is description of the problem: Press power button -> post screen -> black screen If let alone for 5 minutes or so Windows will say that disk isnt connected. Disk is recognized properly by BIOS and Repair utility. If power button is pressed, PC shuts off instantly implying it never actually started booting the system. No options in Repair tool work and for some reason system is being recognized as Windows 7 Ultimate which was installed on the machine years ago. Only useful tools at my disposal are: command prompt in Repair tool and Linux bootable USB. Need help.
