Windows 10: Black screen pops up when accessing recovery e.g. Safe Mode

Hi,


My screen goes black when attempting any of the recovery tools in Windows 10.


When I click on the icon to re-boot into Safe Mode for instance the computer produces a black screen.


If I wait a while and push the function key for a low res screen it produces this after a short pause.


So the list is there but I can't see it.


The computer monitor connects to the PC by a mini HDMI connector.


The computer screen is visible without any problems when booting normally and Windows 10 has been checked along with PC hard drive and SSD.


Any idea what the solution is?

"Safe Mode" Screen flashing after downloading Win10 Upgrade Issues and accessing Safe Mode

My black screen flashes and says "Safe Mode" in each corner of the screen. This is a laptop not connected to a TV or another screen.

I have restarted 3 times and no longer comes to the Recovery environment, it's just a black screen with Safe Mode flashing /popping up briefly every few mins.

 

Black screen even in safe mode

I'm getting a black screen with cursor after login, Windows 10. Ctrl-alt-delete shows options but choosing task manager reverts to black screen. Can enter safe mode but same issue with black screen/no task manager. Suspect display drivers may be a factor
but cant find any way to disable them. Have tried recovery mode options including uninstall updates (couldn't, encountered a problem), system restore (couldn't), start-up repair (no difference). Any suggestions appreciated.

 

Black screen and can't access safe mode

I've been black screening before signing in and was hoping you guys could help me out. I've tried accessing safe mode but it still just black screens.
