Windows 10: Black Screen Random Pauses in Win 11. Why?

My home PC randomly pauses while operating, resulting in a black screen. The operating system is Windows 11 Pro, since July 2024. I have a new motherboard, CPU, NVME drive, fans, ample power supply, and recently a new video card. The new hardware was done to upgrade to Windows 11. After the upgrade, the pauses began with the black screen, followed by various windows reappearing, while the desktop remains black. Reboot was required. Since the video card upgrade and after the pause with the black screen, the windows return and well as the desktop. The pauses are random, sometimes more than

Re-installed Catalyst 8.35 drivers (from the original cd) - no luck. Still getting the random black screen.

 

Black screen on windows 11

Hi I have a similar issue. I have a surface pro 8, windows 11. The screen is black for a long time before login.

Normally:

• Turn on computer
  
• Screen with clock and scenic background
  
• Swipe screen up
  
• Camera turns on
  
• Face recognition
  
• Logs in
  

Now (since Nov 19):

• Turn on computer
  
• Black Screen with clock
  
• Swipe screen up
  
• Black Screen for 30 - 90 seconds, can see and move mouse cursor
  
• Camera might turn on and logs in or screen times out due to no activity
  
• Turn screen off//on by pressing the power button
  
• Camera might turn on or screen times out due to no activity
  
• at some point it logs in
  

This happens 100% on shutdown then power on. It happens a lot, but not always on restarts.

I have tried:

• turning it on and off
  
• rolling back updates
  
• factory reset from device
  
• factory reset from internet
  
• factory reset then installing all the updates
  
• factory reset then pause updates then uninstall updates
  

Anyone have any insights?

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to update the Display drivers and check if that helps. If that issue persist please uninstall and reinstall latest drivers available in manufacturer website.

• Press “Windows + X” and select Device manger.
• Select Display Adapter and expand the driver icon.
• Right click on the driver icon and click on Update.
• Follow the onscreen instructions to update the driver.
