Windows 10: Black screen when booting from Media creation tool

Hello. I have been trying to install Windows 10 on my older pc that had Win 7 on. However, upon turning it on, i noticed that i didn't have os. I downloaded Win 10 media creation tool, but when i try to boot from Usb, it just shows up black screen. My motherboard is MSI A68HM-E33 V2.

Black screen with cursor and cannot boot from Media Creation Tool

Hi, after recent upgrade my Lenovo Thinkpad T440s now has black screen and cursor. I have tried:

- removing peripherals (wireless mouse)

- connecting to external monitor

- booting in safe mode

- booting from Media Creation tool

- booting from newly created Media Creation tool

- switching on and off 3 times in a row

- removing battery

and have reset it countless times and left it alone for hours. I cannot get to safe mode, sign-in screen or anything.

Earlier this year I had the dreaded Windows blue screen perpetual loop and after hours on phone to MS had to perform factory reset, hope this isn't headed the same way, please can you help?

 

Installation media boots to command prompt

I've just booted from known working install media to see exactly what it does when booting. The sequence of events is...

1. Windows logo on a black screen
2. circling dots appear beneath the logo
3. light blue 'Please wait' screen with circling dots
4. a command prompt window (very briefly)
5. the initial Setup page appears

Do you see steps 1-3? If so, it appears you have stopped at step 4, suggesting that something on the disc cannot be read.

Does the disc boot properly in another machine? If so, try cleaning the laptop's drive lens then try booting from the disc again.

If not, make new install media with Microsoft's Media Creation Tool, either as a bootable USB, on an ISO that you can burn to another disc. At Step 8 in Option One of this tutorial you can choose between making a USB or an ISO.

Media Creation Tool Failed

First of all it’s a desktop, two I can’t even get to the OS (clean SSD, USB tool)

I have already exhausted all the garden variety troubleshooting steps listed for the various errors I have received so far.

None of them were particularly helpful for cases where can get into the OS or open the media creation tool…

POST --> F12 --> Boot Menu --> Win10 Pro 64bit Media creation tool --> Enter --> Loads --> POST’s --> Blue Screen*

*(3 out of 4 errors, 1962 is just a lack of OS on drive)

I'm thinking its an bad system board
