    Hi! Two months ago, my laptop HP Pavilion Notebook 17-g121wm underwent a forced Windows 10 update, which must have messed up something; at first I was stuck in a repair crash loop. Then the screen died but the power would remain on. I've cleaned and wiped my hard drive and did a system reset with a recovery USB stick. My laptop works fairly fine when running in this clean slate; except it is stuck on Max Brightness no matter which controls I toggle. Buttons, settings, etc. All solutions tell me to update my graphics driver... but here's where it gets tricky.Updating my graphics driver, doe

    Windows Update graphics driver download stuck at 1%

    Good morning all. I have two graphics cards in my ASUS S551LN laptop, an NVIDIA GeForce 840 M and an Intel HD Graphics Family. When I upgraded to Windows 10, I lost my graphics drivers (the only graphics driver in Device Manager was the basic one from Microsoft).
    I also lost my brightness control (the hotkeys don't work) so it's stuck at max brightness. Also there was no more "Sleep" option at Start > Power.

    So I regularly check Windows Update for any drivers on its download list, and the drivers are there, but they just won't download (stuck at 1%). Is it just my internet connection or is Windows Update having a really hard time downloading my drivers?

    (I'm not a super-geek, by the way.)

    brightness stuck at 0% black screen!

    0% brightness on my laptop means a completely black screen, i accidentally set it to 0% yesterday and can't figure out how to reset it..

    I have tried updating graphics drivers in safe mode, but upon restarting it just remembers the previous brightness setting and reverts back to 0%

    I have also tried booting in low resolution mode, also just shows a black screen.

    I could spend buy a HDMI cable and use my TV as a second monitor to fix the issue, but I don't have the money!

    Display brightness at max after 1803 update

    Hello!

    I upgraded my laptop over the weekend to Windows 10 1803. I noticed my display was set to max brightness. I am unable to use the F keys to lower the brightness. I am also unable to change the brightness in the display settings. My drivers are all updated.
    Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    I have a Toshiba Satellite with the Intel (R) HD Graphics.
