Windows 10: Black screen with cursor on logon - only one user affected

Hi - my daughter has a windows 10 laptop but is getting a blank screen with cursor at login for her user but my user logs in without any problems.We have tried a clean boot, updating drivers etc but the problem persists.

Iam facing “black screen” issue after user logon. I have two users in my laptop one is microsoft account user that needs pin to login and other local user account. When i try to login using microsoft user account iam getting black screen after logon only
cursor moving. I tried to open task manager that also did not open. Same i tried in safemode too but there also same issue balck screen and also task manager did not open.

But with local user accout every thing works good no black screen issue with local user.

What shall i do that make my microsoft user accout to work normally.

Hello - I know this is a commonly raised problem, but this is different from other cases I've found.

When my son logs onto our family PC, after typing in his password it pauses for a few seconds, then goes to a black screen with the cursor visible. It will sit like this

for about 5 minutes before displaying the desktop. (ctrl-alt-del will bring up task manager)

However, my account is not affected - logs in fine with no issues.

I have updated the display driver which didn't help.

All the other suggestions I have found relate to an issue an OS/PC level (e.g. performing a system restore) which doesn't seem likely because that would impact all accounts on the machine and it's only my son's that is affected.

My account has admin privs, my son's is a child account - I don't know if that is relevant.

There is nothing that runs on startup for my son that doesn't also run on startup for me, so it's not likely to be that.

He's not able to install software without my permission (needs a password) so I know he's not done that.

Other than deleting and recreating his account I don't know what to try next.

To understand the issue better, I request you to answer few questions:

• Does black screen appear when you before user login’s or after user has logged in ?
  
• Does black screen appears when you lock your pc?

This problem occurs because of a change in the behavior of Win Logon and Logon UI. This change introduces the potential for the deadlock.

I would also suggest you to install all the updates available for the system and check if it helps.

Follow the Below steps:

• Type settings in the Search area on the taskbar and select Settings
• Select Update and Security.
• Click on Windows Update and select Check for Updates
