Windows 10: Black screen without cursor after a few days reset my laptop.

When I power it on, after the Windows logo and spinning circle, after that I see a black screen with spinning cursor for a few milliseconds, after that the screen turn off and on again with the black screen without cursorThe system does not boot into Windows unless I force shutdown holding the power button multiple times 4 times and retry. Black screen with cursor on screen after few days from upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7.

Original Title: Issue with black screen with cursor after win7 upgraded to win10

Post upgrade from win7 to win10 it worked fine for few days but recently I am facing a problem with black screen appearing after entering the password, only cursor is visible. I did below steps suggested on Internet

1. hit ctrl+Alt+del

2. start a new task from task manager

3. Hit explorer.exe

However this fails saying a feature for windows 10 need to be installed call NTVDM. It tries to install and fails with error . Can somebody suggest me a solution to this?

 

Black Screen with only cursor after do Reset

Hello, The problem on my laptop is my laptop has black screen with cursor, after logo manufacture. this happens because I tried to reset my laptop via recovery option because the disk in Task manager is always 100%.

Try different ways like Windows + P, Ctrl + Alt + Del or Ctrl + Shift + Esc nothing works, I tried to re-install using media creation tools (via DVD) and the same problem is stuck on screen with purple + cursor only, so I do not know how to re-install it,
any suggestions how I fix this

 

Laptop boots up to black screen with cursor, shows signs of activity.


I am trying to figure out what is going on with my mom's laptop. Two days ago she told me she was using her laptop and everything was fine, but then she left to do some things in the kitchen and came back a bit later to the screen off. Upon waking it up by moving the mouse, all she got was a black screen with a white cursor. I have looked at it and upon manually restarting, it shows the Windows 10 logo, and then it goes to the black screen with the cursor. There is no login screen either but I do also hear the welcome music. One thing I noticed though is the cursor does have the blue loading circle next to it like it is actually still doing something, and it flashes and spins now and then, as well as the computer sounding like its working, but I have left this on for almost 40 minutes now and it is still just a black screen. It sometimes goes to the off screen and have to move the mouse to wake it up again. Some people online suggest task manager and opening up other windows but nothing works, I can just move a cursor.

My first thought is it is doing something with updates so I figured I will let it be for a few hours while in the mean time I will post this question to see if anyone else has any ideas. The laptop had Windows 7 before and we upgraded to 10 months ago.
