Windows 10: Black Screen

For the past week or so, at around 5 PM Eastern Australian Time, my Excel files stop working and I get a "Windows not responding, if you wait it might respond" message, bottom left of screen. Any open Internet site (google chrome) continues to work for a while. Other Internet Explorer tabs will not open. No other app can be opened. Task manager will not open. Then after 10 minutes, the entire screen goes black, my desktop is now invisible, and the task bar also, and no icons can be seen.


I then have to turn off PC manually and reboot. Apart from the constant inconvenience, Excel Recovery offers me a version from 12 hours previous, despite the fact I am saving my work every few minutes, right up to the time the screen goes black.


Is there any reason why I get a black screen daily? I have a perfectly valid Windows 10 licence (and a valid Office Home and Student licence)
