  1. Blackscreen Crash on Fullscreen Gaming (nvlddmkm.sys 141 Error)

Re-posting on the correct(?) forum I believe since I wanted to compile all the data I've obtained into a single thread

I ran into lots of problems with my PC, and it eventually accumulated in me ending up reinstalling Windows 10. While I eventually managed to make the installation work, I encountered an issue with the graphics drivers. In particular, whenever I boot a game into fullscreen mode, the game will run perfectly fine for 1-2 minutes, before the screen goes black and I can no longer do anything about it apart from hard reset the PC. The game audio plays in the background for a while, before it eventually cuts out to the 'crashed' audio. Running in Windowed mode works perfectly fine though

Looking through Reliability History, I found this re-occuring error that happens whenever these crashes occur

In another posting, the recommendation I was given was to go into Device Manager and uninstall the graphics driver, reboot and reinstall the driver again. I did so, then booted up a game from Steam (which also installed some DX related drivers I think) and suddenly everything worked. That is until I turned off the PC for the day and when I got back on, the problem reoccurred. And also since Windows decided to install the most minute of updates (a useless Kinect update), I lost all my System Restore's that I had created.

I tried doing the exact same process again, but all the times it never worked again. Maybe it's since I've been experiencing crashes at various parts (like when running the Nvidia installer or when I'm about to click restart at the start menu) but either way, it hasn't been working. I tried running DDU and that didn't help either

I know it's most likely a driver issue and not something like temperature for instance, since it was literally working fine not too long ago. I don't know how else I should go about this, maybe I'm uninstalling the drivers incorrectly? I want to try renaming nvlddmkm.sys to nvlddmkm.sys.bak, restarting and seeing if it reinstalls that file (since it could be corrupted) but idk if that would even work (it did work for intelppm.sys so who knows).

EDIT: I tested it again, and it turns out not even in Windowed mode can I run every game. Some games like Minecraft work fine but others like Call of Duty Modern Warfare still give this issue

    :)

  2. Games in Fullscreen Giving Blackscreen and Crashing Pc

Check the Event viewer and reliability monitor for issues at the time of the crashes. For me with an EVGA RTX2060 I would constantly get blank screen, sound continuing when running games full screen (running in a window was fine). Tried various versions of Nvidia drivers, ran Unigine benchmarks and Furmark with no issues reported, temps were fine. Checked Event Viewer and found errors related to nvlddmkm along the lines of "feature not found", these errors occurred at the time of the crashes, I could create another entry by running a game till it crashed. I started getting the same sort of error, blank screen even in Windows in safe mode.Turned out the VRAM on my card was faulty. Not saying that is the issue with your GPU, just something to look at.

  3. Blackscreen fullscreen bug on certain games

Hi, just wondering if anyone had or have the same issue playing assassin's creed origin or any other Ubisoft games, here is the problem blackscreen game/intro/hard reset (no audio) ... blackscreen
minimized/closed/(audio) hard reset only happens in fullscreen so i brought a new build gtx 1060 6gb, ryzen 1500x ddr4 8gb and guess what
same problem occurs, if anyone from Microsoft or anyone knows a fix i would very much appreciate it as it really does seems like this is software related and that i mean a conflict between uplay and Window 10.

Getting nvlddmkm error in event viewer, game crashing

    Hi,

I've been getting nvlddmkm errors in event viewer every time I play the game Outlast 2 which was just released. I'm using Lenovo IdeaPad laptop, while not high specs, it can run the game at 60fps at mid-high settings with no problem so I highly doubt that it's not meeting minimum requirements. Gonna keep it point form for easy read.

    Symptoms:

    • Within 1-10min of gameplay, game would freeze for a few seconds then throw a "Outlast 2 has stopped working" Windows error
    • Few seconds after clicking "close program" in the error, it would throw a "Rendering thread exception - fatal error"
    • After closing that, it would finally throw a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error "RUNTIME ERROR! R6025 -pure virtual function call"
    • In event viewer, I get about 16 or so error events, "The description for Event ID 13 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer" (screenshot)
    • Also get a warning event in event viewer usually on top of error events, "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered"
    • Only game crashes, windows not affected

    Specs:

    • Windows 10 64-bit with anniversary update, no creators edition
    • i7-4700MQ
    • 8GB RAM
    • Nvidia GT750M Optimus, latest driver as of this post which is 383.22

    Things already tried:

    • Absolute minimum graphic settings in-game + windowed mode
    • Disable hibernate/quick start in power options and restart computer
    • Use DDU-safe mode to uninstall everything Nvidia related, then manually download 383.22 and reinstall it, didn't install GeForce Experience or PhysX
    • Use DDU-safe mode to uninstall everything Nvidia related, then manually download 368.81 to roll back, didn't install GeForce Experience or PhysX
    • Power options -> PCI Express -> maximum power settings
    • Power options -> processor power management -> max processor state -> change to 99% instead of 100%
    • sfc scannow in CMD (no errors)
    • DISM checkhealth in CMD (no errors)
    • Adding TDRDelay registry key and set it to 10
    • Whitelist entire game directory in Windows Defender
    • Create new windows user account and launch game from that account
    • Force game to use integrated Intel HD graphics -> this would prevent any crash, but obviously be unplayable at like 5fps. So this means it's something wrong with Nvidia drivers, and not my computer?
I even chatted with service rep from Nvidia, they're out of ideas too and told me "check with Lenovo", lol.

Does anyone have any other ideas?
