  1. Blackscreen with high GPU fan spin

Hello guys,I'm having a problem where my PC will have a blackscreen with the GPU fans at 100%. I still have sound and can communicate through Discord but nothing else. I have to hard reset the PC afterwards. It happens with a lot of games especially on start up. For example R6 with DirectX will Blackscreen on startup but R6 with Vulcan will work relatively fine. I find that I have microstutters in games that will work with the only fix being lowering the options, limiting the frames etc. It doesn't even need a heavy load to happen this problem appears on games like AC1 or PCBS2. I've noticed t

    Laptop fan spins terribly

    Hi mrcensus,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

The laptop fans should only spin up when a component needs to be cooled.

Open Task Manager, then select the Processes tab.

Leave Task Manager open to monitor your system, when the fans spin up, is the CPU, GPU, RAM or Disk at a very high percentage, if so, please provide a screenshot of the Processes tab.

Fan spinning at high rate on startup.

So Ive had my PC for about half a year now, and in the last week or so whenever I boot my computer the fan immediately starts spinning fast and is extremely loud. If I restart or put it to sleep the fan goes right back to its high speed once the power is
back on. The only thing that has worked is after booting, is to log into windows then shut it down through the start menu. After that to leave it off for 30 seconds then boot it up again. Once back on its speed is what it used to be and is almost silent.

*In the time I've had this PC the fan has never gotten anywhere near this loud even when Ive had games running for a long time.

*Temps have never been too high generally 25C to 35C (CPU / Motherboard/ GPU) , with my 2 storage drives being around 40C to 45C.

*When I open task manager during these times I don't see any excessive use of my CPU or Memory

    Things I've tried:

With my "solution" of waiting 30 seconds before rebooting if I waited to long even a minute I'd get the high speed fan again.

Ive dusted the fan, and if it matters I've dusted the water cooler that's attached to it.

    Tried just restarting/sleep mode.

Tried going into task manager and turning off all the startup programs that were listed as having a high impact.

    Any help/or advice is appreciated.

    Edit*

Did another cleaning today, taking the fan out from in between the case wall, and my water cooling radiator. Used a Q tip on each fan blade, and the inside cylinder wall that the blades run next to. Re connected everything and it started up silently. Ill
leave this open for a few more days to make sure it has stopped. Thanks for the help.

    Edit2*

So after a few days the sound came back. I turned it off one night when it was running barely audible, then started it up the following morning to it roaring again. Although I didn't think it could be dust I took it apart to dust it again (not there was
anything noticeable) put it back together, and its running quietly again.

I cant believe 3 days of dust could cause that so something about taking it apart and reattaching it is temporarily fixing it.

My set up has the case wall>120mm fan>water cooler radiator that has a screw going through them in 4 places, but where they attach to the case wall isn't a circular hole but a vertical slot. To attach the 3 it needs to be in the middle of the slot (so water
cooler tubes don't rest on the gfx card and it just wont fit going all the way up the slot). So I think the fans movement+weight of the radiator slowly loosened its hold causing the noise (although this doesn't explain why I could get the sound to stop after
restarting it in a specific way). If the sound comes back I'll try to verify this.

Edit3* Nope no idea what it is.
