Windows 10: Blank desktop & error message c:\Windows\system32\systemprofile\desktop is unavailable

So prior to today i had no problems with the functionability of my laptop, but when i turned it on i was forced into an update screen and by the time it was done my whole operating system (i think?) has been wiped and i literally cannot do ANYTHING!! I dont know what to do, I really only use my laptop to backup and save photos but I’m sure those are long gone by now. The attached photo is what is shown upon startup. Please help!!

This C:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop is unavailable error may occur due to corrupt or missing Windows files.

To troubleshoot the issue, you can follow these simple steps:

• Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile and check if it has the
  Desktop folder there.
• If the Desktop folder does not exist, then create a new folder and rename it as
  Desktop or copy it from C:\users\Default\Desktop.

Note: By default, C:\Users\Default is hidden. To unhide click on the View tab and check the
Hidden Items box.

After you have created the folder, it is required that you give full permission to the folder. You can follow these steps to give full permission:

• Right click on the folder, select Properties then click on the Security tab.
• Click on Edit.
• On the Permissions for Desktop window, select Everyone and then click on
  Add.
• In the Enter the object names to select dialog box, type
  Everyone and click on Check Names.
• Click OK.

After an update of windows 10 in my laptop, I restart as it asked me to do, I logged with my user and password and then that error appeared. My desktop was blank, invisibleicons except recycle bin., Task view icon on the task bar. If i press anything
like the wondows button or if i press cortana it never pops up. Help me please

My laptop just went through a Windows 10 "update" cycle and now it won't start. The best I get is a slow boot until I get the message "C:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop is unavailable'. I read on this site instructions on how to restore
the Desktop folder but those instructions start by asking to open File Explorer. I can't do that. In fact, I can't do anything. My desktop is blank (black really) with the exception of the recycle bin icon and clicking on the Windows logo in at the bottom
left does nothing.
