Windows 10: Blank grey screen on windows 10 old hp laptop

I am trying to use my old hp laptop and when I opened it up and got everything I needed I tired resetting it. Mid way it said “there was a problem resetting your pc restart your device and try again, no changes made” after I restarted the pc and when it restarted it started booting up on a blank/grey screenI tried all the methods from YouTube and even previous ones from this website. Nothing worked but I still tried to restart my computer and after like 30 tries I finally saw my cursor after I saw my cursor I tried it again and then it showed a small box that’s white with a bunch of black dot

And even getting in the BIOS, display remained blank? I guess screen is dead, then *SadSometime (with my ancient old HP) it helped (not permanent) to bend the chassis a bit (press on sides - not too much). Just to check any loose connection.

If laptop is still in good shape, I suggest service

I have an HP pavilion dv7. I upgraded to windows 10. I can boot up. Get to the desktop and it goes to blank screen. Both graphics drivers are up to date. Any suggestions?

1. What is the model of HP laptop you are using?
   
2. Does the black screen occur while using the PC or while restarting the machine?
   
3. Are you aware of any changes happened on the computer prior to the issue?
   
4. Which version of Windows you are using? (To check, type:winver in start menu and hit enter.)
   

I appreciate the time you have taken to resolve this issue. There can be many reasons for booting to a black screen.
These screens may appear with or without the mouse pointer.
The main causes are Problems with the driver for your display adapter or incompatible application.

I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned in the article on
Troubleshoot black screen or blank
screen errors,
refer the section
I see a black or blank screen after signing in to Windows 10.

If that doesn’t help, I would also suggest you to go through the article provided by HP on
Troubleshooting Screen Issues (Windows 10, 8, 7),
refer the section No image on the screen, or the screen is blank.
