Windows 10: Blank guest password has expired. How to change to a blank password?

I have a guest account on my laptop. The password has expired, and I'm being prompted to change it.

The problem is that there never was a password - it was blank, so the computer never prompted for it. It simply presented a button with "Sign in", which opened the account.

In the "Change Password" dialog, to change a blank password to a blank password, I simply hit Enter. But Bill doesn't accept that. Denied.

I tried leaving the current pwd blank, and change to 123, but that's not acceptable either.

cannot turn off password protected sharing windows 10

Disabling the GUEST account password (leaving it blank) worked for me. After doing that the "turn off password protected sharing" button stayed on OFF as selected.

Thanks so much. This did work. The guest account wasn't visible in the Control Panel option but using "control passwords2" allowed me to access the guest account password and reset it to blank which permitted the ability to turn off password sharing.

 

Press the Win key+X and type lusrmgr.msc and press enter. Double Click the Yellow Users folder in the middle pane. Right click the Guest account and choose Set Password.

 

You may also wish to edit the options on the User Manager so that Never Expires and user cannot change password is checked

Also as you have Pro you can use the Group Policy editor to tailor the password options to your needs C:\Windows\System32\gpedit.msc
