Windows 10: Blank screen during hibernate/sleep Windows 10

My computer hangs during hibernation. That is, it starts the process, my monitor goes dark, but the computersometimes remains on. It happens once every several attempts. I'd say when going to hibernate I have a 50/50 chance of the computer actually going into hibernation, instead of getting stuck in the process.

I tried:

* Reset windows power settings

* Remove and recreate the hibernation file

No go.


There aren't any random crashes or restarts, so I tend to rule out hardware failures such as memory or HD though I'm opened to suggestions if anyone thinks otherwise.


I also looked at the Event viewer after this happens, but nothing drew my attention so far. I get aKernel-Power eventId 41, and also some DistributedCOM 10016 events.


Any idea what to look for? This is seriously annoying.

Hibernation and Sleep not working on my WIndows 10 PC after latest update

There are many possible reasons for this hibernation and sleep not working issue. The most common causes are
corrupted Power settings or outdated display drivers. In order for us to efficiently assist you with your concern regarding the issue of waking up from sleep/hibernation, we just have a few questions for you:

• Have you made any recent changes to your computer prior to the issue?
• Did you get any error messages upon waking up your computer from hibernation/sleep?
• Have you also tried performing the power troubleshooter?

If you still haven't, we suggest trying the steps below:

• Press Windows key + W and type Troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting and click on System and Security.
• Click on Power and follow the onscreen steps.

Delete the current power plan and create it again.

Hibernating laptop changes to sleep behaviour after Windows 10 May 2019 update

Thank you for your reply. I have tried the two steps (turning of Hybrid sleep and Fast startup) you suggested but to no avail. Okay, for your two questions:

1. My laptop is a HP Pavilion 14-bf101tx, and currently running Windows 10 1903 (upgrading from 1809).
2. Nope. No error messages. I suppose the boot process was successful, however, my battery was reduced. That's why I suggest the post title as "Hibernating changes to sleep behaviour" because the battery level reduction looks like sleep behaviour.

Please inform me of any diagnostics information you might need. Thank you for your kind assistance.

 

Does Windows 10 "hibernate after sleep" wake the machine before hibernating?

In Windows 10, it is set as

At 0:10, the PC sleeps, and the screen goes blank

What happens at 0:30?

does it

1. fully wake up (login screen shows up) and then hibernates
   
2. hibernates directly from sleep (computer appears to be shut down, screen remains blank)
   
3. remains in sleep mode and disregards hibernate
