Windows 10: Blank Screen

My Laptop is Lenovo Y50.
All of a sudden , on logging, the screen went blank with a mouse pointer & i couldnt enter password.
No Control, alt, Del works...
I didnt do any Windows 10 Update...
Now the laptop is as good as dead.
Guys please help...
Only i have to reinstall the OS? There is no other option?*Mad*Sleepy

anybody out there know why my screen has gone blank working perfectly then screen is blank can still make and recieve calls but screen is completely blank any suggestions to why?

 

Blank screen after Windows 10 update on 9/12/2017

I got the meaning of "hard shutdown".

FYI as stated in problem, the blank screen covered the (1) BIOS post screen and (2) Manufacture Logo screen and (3) Sign-in screen. I heard the Windows Start-up Sound.

In my case blank was blank.

What I left out of the original, is I tried a Recover Disk but due to blank screen I could not navigate it.

Just a thought
Where your pointer is press Enter then password then Enter again.
Let us know if that worked I know it did for me once on 8.1

 

Assuming you can't see the pointer (not clear from your post) try the brightness 'down' button
There is a known issue for a crop of Lenovos where the brightness keys get reversed (I kid you not)
There is a fix (a quick search and you'll find it) but it does come back (YMMV)

 

If you power up the laptop from being completly off and absolutely get nothing on the screen, try pressing the power button 2 or 3 times , dont press and hold, just press.. pause.. press
