Windows 10: Blender always bails. Why?

Hello, I need help! I've been using phonies since yesterday... And whenever he wants to render something difficult (my PC), Windows supports it and I have to restart the PC (emergency off (hold power button for 10 seconds)). I also render with gpu. Can you help me?

How can I open an .obj file in Blender

Setting File Associations in Windows 10 is currently a bit buggy

Right click an obj file, choose 'Open WIth' - Choose Another App

IMPORTANT - Check the box marked 'Always use this app to open objx . . .'

If Blender is not in the list, scroll to the bottom and click 'More Apps'

Again if Blender is not in the list, at the bottom, click 'Look for another app on this PC', then navigate to find the blender executable and choose that

That is located here:

C:/program files (x86)/blender foundation/blender/blender.exe

That's It, once that is done, you should be able to double click an obj file to open it in Blender . . .

 

Blender 2.7.5 64-bit fails to start in Windows 10

Good to hear you got it sorted.

Maybe the 'a' version of 2.7.7 has fixed this potential for incompatibility/conflict ?

I thought I would have to update Python (still have a version from '11) because you used to have to

install Python separately.

Then after installing Blender I noticed Python was included. Getting modern, eh !

- This led me to having a look at The Gimp and I see their newer versions also install with Python as well.
Too easy!

- Didn't notice that msvcr120.dll was in the Blender folder as well. Good thing, or I would have thought yours

was corrupt and suggested you copy/paste it from System32.

- Thanks for the links. Now that I have Blender installed again I may have another go.

Last time around I ended up bailing out on Blender, but did play around with
Wings3D, which is very basic

compared to Blender, and I managed some basic manipulate/modify with a few mods

(In my Oblivion moding days... Crikey! That far back ? ... ).

AMD clarifies Blender Benchmark Confusion

So, have we seen any Zen benchmarks other than this Blender? If not, it does suggest that Zen is pants at everything else.
