  1. Blocked Access to All Apps After Configuring "Run only specified Windows Applications" Setting

I am encountering an issue with user access permissions on my computer. Specifically, I have set up two user accounts: one as an Administrator and the other as a standard User. The User account is configured to boot using a custom .bat file instead of explorer.exe as the Shell, which limits its access to Windows apps and certain system utilities like Task Manager.Recently, I decided to restrict File Explorer access for the User account by utilizing the "Run only specified Windows Applications" setting within the Group Policy Editor. Under User Configuration > Administrative Templates > S

Applocker not blocking -- Win10Pro, Applocker configured, AppIDsvc run

    • OS: Win10Pro
    • Applocker: configured blocking of apps and executables
    • Applocker rules: set to enforcing
    • Service: AppIDSvc is running

I've been trying to get Edge and a couple other utilities blocked on the laptop to keep distractions to a minimum for my child who uses the computer to study.
However, even after rules are defined, and they are set to enforcing as blocked, the apps and executables are still available to them -- even after a reboot.

I have followed the instructions here: https://social.technet.microsoft.com...10itprogeneral
However, there is still no blocking of the apps or the executables.
    Thank you for your consideration.

'Organisation has used windows defender application control to block this app' (Windows 10 home)

    Hi Benjamin,

If you are prompted that Windows Defender has blocked an app, it could be that Group Policies are configured in your device in terms of installing apps. For us to assist you properly in installing an application, kindly respond to the questions below:

    • Can you tell us more about the troubleshooting steps that you have done? Have you tried the troubleshooting steps that were mentioned in this thread?
    • Is your device connected in a domain network?
    • Have you configured any Group Policy in your device?

We look forward to your response.

    blocked applications

    Hi Eileen,

Windows Defender or another antivirus software will sometimes block a certain app or file from running or being installed. With this, you can check the
quarantine section of the antivirus program you are using to see which program is being blocked. To better assist you, we need the answers to the following questions:

    • What is the exact error message did you receive after launching or running the app?
    • Which antivirus program are you using?

In the meantime, we suggest disabling the Windows Defender SmartScreen and see if the app will run. To do this, simply follow the steps below:

    • Type Windows Defender on the search box and click on the first option.
    • On the left side of the window, click on the Window icon (App & browser control).
    • On the SmartScreen for Windows
      Store apps column, select Off.

We are looking forward to your response.
