Windows 10: Blue lines top and bottom in video files opening with Movies&TV

Some files with .mp4 format have a kind of bug where if I play, many of the interactive options diminish, such as moving timeline, a weird blue bar that appears on the top and bottom of the video, the x button to leave also is delayed, opening in pop-up mode, as well as the file playing slower than other .mp4 files, these types of files only open well with media player for some reason, instead of Movies&TV, even when other .mp4 files play well with Movies&TV.Edit: These files also only sometimes do this, and seldom times open just perfectly.

Can no longer open my video files with Microsoft Movies & TV

Suddenly, Movies & TV disappeared as my default video player and no longer appears in my list of app options. Here are the steps I've taken so far. I started by trying to do a repair. Then deleted and reinstalled the Movies and TV app. When those steps did not work, I opened Open PowerShell (admin) and ran

get-appxpackage -allusers *zunevideo* | remove-appxpackage -allusers

Then I checked to see if the app was gone. It was. I then reinstalled the app from Microsoft Store and went to default apps and selected it as my default app.

Still, the app does not show up when I try to select it as my viewer. WILL THE APP NO LONGER PLAY PERSONAL VIDEOS???

 

Movies & TV app not working properly.

Hi,

I suggest you to un-install and re-install Movies & TV App and check. Follow the steps:

• Press Windows Key.
• Type Windows Powershell.
• Right click on it and select Run as administrator.
• Type in the following command to un-install Movies & TV App.

get-appxpackage *Microsoft.ZuneVideo* | remove-appxpackage

Note: The Movies & TV App can be reinstalled using the Store App or by following the link mentioned below. You will need to exit the Store app if it is already open before reinstalling the app.

Open PowerShell (admin) and run:

• get-appxpackage -allusers *zunevideo* | remove-appxpackage -allusers
  

and then run:

• get-appxpackage -allusers *zunevideo*
  

If the 2nd command returns an empty output, Movies & TV has been uninstalled completely.

Now, visit the Store and reinstall Movies & TV.
