Blue Screen After Clean install of Windows 10

    Hello,

I recently attempted to update my motherboard driver from manufacturer's website. I managed to also download the newest Nvidia Driver for my system on their website before the pc started to act up. The system began experiencing stability issues giving the following blue screen codes:

    PFN_List_Corrupt

    System_Service_Exception

    Clock_watchdog_Timeout

    Critical_Process_Died

    ...

At which point I re-installed a fresh copy of windows from a boot drive created from Microsoft website.

I've formatted the partition as to remove any old files and proceeded with the installation. I have since managed to install all suggested windows updates as well as the minimalist NVIDIA driver and have avoided the Manufacturers main motherboard driver update which caused the problems in the first place, however; in the last 3 hours, the pc has blue screened twice with the following code : IRQL_Not_Less_or_equal

I've ran sfc /scannow as administrator, it comes back "Did not find any integrity violations."

A memory diagnostic was ran and it passed.

    Here are my system specs:

    Motherboard: ASRock B450M-HDV R.0

    GPU: Nvidia 1660 TI

    Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 2700

Operating System: Windows 10 Home 10.0.18363 Build 18363

Any help or ways to proceed would be greatly appreciated. As mentioned all windows updates are installed.

    :)

  3. Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:
    • Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
    • When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
    • Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
    • When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
    • This time enter your product key
    • When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
    • Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it
Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.
