    Blue screen caused by one of three boot options having an error


    I have a HP laptop running Windows 10. About two months ago, some error caused all Office 2013 to quit. I decided to use a backup to recovery my laptop. The backup appeared to work. But the unit goes to a blue screen indicating an error. After trying a reinstallation o windows and checking everything I can find no problem except a restart, including cold restart, brings up the same error window. Again I tried a recovery which includes an erase and format of the hard drive with the same result.

    Accessing boot choices shows a list of three boot choices:

    OS boot manager (boots to error screen)

    OS boot manager (boots normally)

    Boot from EFI file (boots normally)

    How can I access this boot table to remove the broken boot sequence?

    I have tried all of the options there, Which is why i included in my post the lists of things that i performed to isolate the cause of bsod. Thanks

    Hi Jon,

    Startup blue screen error(s) can occur if a problem causes your PC to shut down or restart unexpectedly. It could be due to the following:

    • Outdated device software drivers
    • Corrupted Windows update system files
    • Software/Security conflicts

    • Did you get any blue screen stop error codes?
    • Have you tried booting in Safe mode?

    prior to the issue.
