Windows 10: Blue Screen from Specific Wi-Fi

A disclaimer: I have already asked this question before, and was asked to upload some files to help with troubleshooting. Unfortunately, a few weeks later when I went to reproduce the problem, I couldn't. I think the reason is that the load on the network is the cause of the crash, and since I tried this between semesters the load was not as heavy as usual. Now the new semester has started and, indeed, the laptop crashed within minutes of connecting to the network. Since it took so long to get these files, the question has been locked, so I have to post anew.


I have a Dell XPS 9350 running Windows 10.

There's a specific location where connecting to the Wi-Fi results in a BSOD within about a minute or so. I emphasize this seems to be geographically isolated - the network I connect to is a university network and causes no issues in most of the campus, but in this location I have been getting BSODs consistently over the past couple of years. Other networks have caused no trouble.


I was asked to update drivers, BIOS, even revert the system. About a month ago I formatted the laptop (with not connection to this issue), reinstalled Windows 10 and then updated all drivers and firmware, so I think those steps can be marked as already taken.

Trouble Changing Wi-Fi Password


I've been following the following steps to change my Wi-Fi password for some time:

1. Launch Control Panel.
2. Click "Network and Internet."
3. Click "Network and Sharing Center."
4. Click "Wi-Fi...."
5. Click "Wireless Properties."
6. Click the Security tab.
7. Check "Show characters."
8. Enter the password in "Network security key."

Those steps have been working just fine, but today I discovered a new wrinkle. If I change the password inside the router first, "Wi-Fi..." doesn't appear in step 4. This isn't much of a problem at home, because I can just change the password in Control Panel before I change it inside the router, but it would be a problem at a public hotspot, or something of that nature. I also tested Brink's instructions in "How to Connect To a Wireless Network in Windows 10," but they don't work for me either. How can I fix this?

Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.

I suggest you to try the following steps and check if it helps.

• Click on the Network logo at the bottom right corner of the Task bar.
• Click on Network setting and select manage Wi-Fi settings.
• Select your Network and click on Forget.
• Now, try to reconnect to the network again by entering the Wi-Fi password.
• Check the connect automatically box and click on
  connect.
