Blue screen occurs constantly, which is originally triggered by unplugging an HDMI-to-USBc...

A first blue screen occurred 4 months ago, when I had a monitor connected to my laptop by an HDMI-to-USBc adaptor and I directly unplug the adaptor to disconnect the monitor. I didn't realize it would be a big problem so I kept unplugging the adaptor to disconnect the monitor, until recently the blue screen began occurring more and more often. Now it occurs almost every 2 minutes after it reboots, DRIVING ME CRAZY. I updated all drivers and it didn't help. I reinstalled Windows 10 and it didn't help at all. I took my laptop to several local repair stores and nobody could figure out.

Could anyone PLEASE help me out?

    Specs:

    Huawei matebook pro X

    Windows 10 x64

    Intel i7 8th gen

    16 GB of DDR4

My issue could be similar to this case and I tried a lot of things but I just couldn't figure out how to solve this.

  2. Blue Screen after unplugging HDMI and on battery power

    Hello!

Here's the scenario of a blue screen that I can reliably reproduce....

    • I'm presenting off my Dell Precision 5510 (Windows 10 Pro version 1709 Build 16299.248, 64-bit, 32GB RAM, Intel i7-6820HQ @ 2.70Ghz) while plugged into power. The laptop is connected to a projector via HDMI, with the screen extended (allowing me to see
one thing on my laptop monitor and other content displayed on the HDMI connected projector.
    • Presentation is done. I unplug from HDMI without toggling to displaying only on my PC screen. I just unplug the HDMI cable.
    • I unplug from the power supply (thus now on battery power) but have not turned off the laptop or put it in standby.
    • I work on some follow-up tasks..... In a matter of minutes the laptop slows, locks, and blue screens.
    • The blue screen code varies, but the message about collecting data never goes above 0%.

If I toggle to displaying only on my PC screen, I seem to avoid the blue screen. Also, if I'm under power, it doesn't seem to happen. Finally, if I unplug from power but don't unplug the HDMI, I'm fine. It's when I unplug from HDMI and go to battery power
    that the failure happens.

Nothing shows up on memory diagnostics.

    Thoughts? Thanks!

Blue Screen after unplugging HDMI and on battery power

Good find. Interestingly, each of those are the blue screens--the exact message displayed before the system freezes on the blue screen (no mini dumps).

In every situation, it only happens after the unplugging an HDMI cable and going to battery power.

I appreciate the advice about the driver. I'll try it. In case that doesn't work, what would your next thought be?

    Thanks!
